Accessibility FAQ

Where should I park?

There is an attached parking garage at 1000 Broadway. Rates vary, with weekend and evenings capping at $8 per day. A Smart Park is located a few blocks away at SW 4th and Yamhill. Limited street parking (metered until 7pm) is also available. The Judy is also located close to all bus lines headed for Portland City Center. All MAX trains also stop in the area.

Is The Judy wheelchair accessible?

Wheelchair access is located at the main street-level entrance at 1000 SW Broadway, T-100. Inside, there is an elevator to take patrons down to the main level. Wheelchair accessible seating and restrooms are also available.

What do I do if I need accessible seating?

We are happy to reserve accessible seating for patrons using wheelchairs and their companions, as well as for patrons who do not need a wheelchair space but require accessible seating. Please email access@manyhatscollaboration.org to request an accessible seating reservation.

Are gender-neutral restrooms available?

Yes. Gender-neutral restrooms are located on the lower level behind the concession area.

Will Sign Language Interpretation be available?

Yes. WHY & HOW Are Not in the Picture is a show created and performed in ASL, and La Mariposa will be interpreted. Interpreters or ASL/signing volunteers will also be available throughout the day in all festival venues.

I am a hearing audience member. Will I be able to understand WHY & HOW Are Not in the Picture?

Yes. While the play is performed entirely in American Sign Language, the piece also features projected captions as well as a sound design.

Will Audio Description be available?

Audio Description (in English) is available for the performance La Mariposa at 2:00pm. Using a single earpiece connected to an assistive listening device (ALD), patrons who are blind or have low vision can listen to trained audio describer give live, verbal descriptions of actions, costumes, scenery, and other visual elements of a performance. Patrons who wish to listen to the description may pick up a headset free-of-charge, on a first-come, first-served basis, with ID at the table outside the Black Box at The Judy.

Patrons are also invited to participate in a touch tour at 1:15pm, preceding the performance of La Mariposa. The goal of a touch tour is to provide blind and partially-sighted individuals with additional context about the show, along with a deeper multi-sensory experience of the piece. While not required, we would love to know about any audience members who are interested in experiencing the touch tour in advance - please email access@manyhatscollaboration.org.

Due to the nature of WHY & HOW Are Not in the Picture, Audio Description is not available for that performance.

Can I bring my service animal?

We welcome guests with disabilities who wish to bring their service animals into the theater, lobby, and studio spaces with them. Pets and emotional support animals are not allowed. While not required, we welcome advance contact by guests who use a service animal prior to attending a performance or event - please email access@manyhatscollaboration.org. Our goal is to be helpful so that the guest and service animal are comfortable.
